BHS junior brings home Miss South Carolina Teen crown

  • Friday, April 18, 2014

Erica Wilson, a 17-year-old junior at Berkeley High School, was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen at the 2014 Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant in March. In the weeks since, she has begun her journey representing the entire state.

Erica is an Honors and AP Honors student at BHS and plans to further her education in the medical field.

Her platform is a non-profit organization she started in 2012, “Last Chance for Love.”

The organization financially sponsors animals that are scheduled to be euthanized until they find a forever home.

So far her organization has placed over 18 animals in loving homes. She has a deep passion for animals and loves to be involved with animals of all types. She also enjoys modeling and has modeled for several merchants, including a dress designer in Atlanta.

Miss South Carolina Teen’s journey will take her to Nationals in Orlando in July to compete for Miss Princess America.

Princess America is a wonderful pageant system that supports “Give Kids the World,” an organization that gives terminally-ill kids and their families a week-long vacation at their 70-acre resort. Each Queen works to earn money for this wonderful organization.

The yearlong journey is expensive. Erica is seeking donations to offset the expenses as she continues to represent South Carolina in 2014, as well as compete in the national competition in Orlando.

Each sponsor name or company name will be mentioned on her Facebook and Nationals.

A fundraiser will be held at the Berkeley County Shriners Club, Thorney Forest on May 16 at 7 p.m. The Shriners’ barbecue dinner will be available for $6 (money goes to Shriners), and a $5 cover charge at the door will be for Erica. The event will include a silent auction. Items are needed for the silent auction.

If you would like Miss South Carolina Teen to make an appearance for your business, or for more information about the upcoming events, please call (843) 991-1051.

Any donations may be made payable to Erica Wilson, 310 Stevensridge Lane, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
