43rd Hell Hole Swamp Festival fast approaching

The 43rd Hell Hole Swamp Festival is fast approaching. For general information, contact Chris Pipkin at 257-2233, and for arts and crafts and food, contact Pam Turner at (864) 417-0226.

On Saturday, April 26, all beauty contests will be held, starting at 11 a.m. Opening Ceremonies, featuring the Common Call Quartet, will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 27 at the Steel Shed, followed by a bring-your-own community covered dish dinner. On Friday, May 2, Midway Rides and Games (tickets $1) and a Barbecue Cook-Off all begin at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, things will be off to a quick start with the 10K Gator Run (www.active.com or (843) 257-2233 for information) at 8:15 a.m. along with opening of the Information Center and food concessions.

The festival committee has worked really hard to make this year’s one the best festivals ever. Come out and enjoy!

Interact Club

The Timberland High School Interact Club attended the weekend Interact Conference in Winnsboro on April 5. Students Malik Brown, Sophia Cestaro and Naketia Sumpter participated and made up a team for Timberland.

Timberland High School Interact Club won in the following categories for small club: Best Service Above Self (Pennies for Patients and Lake Moultrie Nursing Home), Best Local Community Project (Lake Moultrie Nursing Home), Best Facebook Page, and Best Scrapbook/ Display.

The club sponsor is Kristin Snider. Congratulations to these students and sponsor for a job well done.

SC SkillsUSA Competition Held

The SC SkillsUSA Competition was held in Greenville, SC during April, 3-5. Timberland High School sent several representatives. Congratulation to these students and their sponsors: Octavius Hampton placed first out of five teams in TV/Video Production (Sponsor: Suzanne Footman). Terry Lane Caddell placed 13th out of 24 teams in Automotive Service Technology (Sponsor: Jerome Smalls).

April 20: Wesley AME will host Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. Church School will be at 8 a.m., followed by Easter Sunday Worship at 9 and the Church School Easter Program at 11. May 2, 3, 4: Hell Hole Swamp Festival. Opening Ceremonies, April 27.
