Dustin Parsons threw a complete game and John Fondren keyed a big three-run Cavalier inning as St. John’s Christian Academy downed Clarendon Hall 5-2 on Friday, March 28 at Cavalier Field.
Parsons scattered eight hits and struggled at times in the drizzling mist, but knuckled down to squelch a Saints’ comeback rally in the sixth with a key strikeout.
Parsons did not give up an earned run as both CHA’s runs scored as a result of throwing errors.
Fondron’s infield single turned into a three-base throwing error that put SJCA on the board, then came home to score the second run himself on a wild pitch in the Cavaliers’ three-run third inning.
“For a young team we are very competitive,” said Cavs Coach Tim Hutto. “We only have one senior and most of my infield are freshmen and sophomores.”
With the win SJCA improves to 8-1 on the season.
