The Berkeley Lady Stags began the successful defense of their 2013 Region 8-AAA championship on the road with a 4-1 win over James Island on March 26.
Brooklyn Stone went the distance inside the circle to improve to 3-1 on season, scattering five hits in the complete game effort.
The Lady Stags improved to 7-1, bouncing back from last week’s shutout loss to Stratford.
Two days earlier, the Lady Stags turned to the Big Fly to drub visiting Timberland 15-0 behind Peyton Svagerko’s grand slam and Tori Singletary’s three-run homer. Singletary led the 14-hit attack, going a perfect 3 for 3 and driving in four runs.
Blake Ponder and Stone each rapped out a pair of hits. Sydney Kizer, Kelston Hilton, Olivia Grooms, Lexi Samples and Brook Stueness all tallied hits for the Lady Stags.
Haley Welch had two hits to lead Timberland at the plate.
In the circle, Jessica Stanley notched the win with a four-hit shutout to improve to 4-0 on the season.
