Kickboxing class offered

How about an enjoyable activity to keep your heart healthier while perhaps losing a few inches or pounds to look grand in those new summer outfits?

Cardio-Kickboxing classes will be held each Tuesday at 7 p.m.

For $10 per session you will benefit from the directions of a special instructor from Summerville.

Flood Buckets

Ladies at Friendship United Methodist Church are joining others at the S.C. Conference to prepare five gallon flood buckets to send when special emergencies occur.

Lists of supplies are at each church. Lynn DeHay, who is president of the group at Friendship, will have more information.

Belle Isle Garden Club Tea

The Belle Isle Garden Club enjoyed a tea in early March with members and friends.

This occasion to dress up a little and party a bit netted over $700 for the club to use for their many projects.

1 million books!

Another significant project of the women of the S.C. Methodist Conference will encourage reading among young children.

New books for preschool and younger elementary children are being collected to be taken to Florence for Annual Conference on June 3.

The goal is to collect 1 million books in South Carolina.

Sweatman excels

Ronald Sweatman Jr. achieved a marvelous academic record of 4.0 for the fall semester at The Citadel.

Ron is the son of Ronald Sweatman Sr. and Robin Sweatman of Cross. He is the grandson of Vi and Allen Weiss also of Cross, and grandson of Tommy and Phyllis Sweatman of Goose Creek.

Congratulations,Ron! Keep up the good work!

Happy Birthday

Belated “Happy Birthday “ to all who have had a birthday in March! Carson Prince became 10 on March 1, and his friend Don had his special day on March 17.

O’Dell Shuler became a year older on Mar. 18, and his son Art had a birthday on the following day!

Olivia Strock will celebrate her birthday on March 31.


Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Gladys Austin, who died last week at the age of 89.

She was the wife of J.D. Austin who for many years carried the U.S. Mail from Moncks Corner to Cross.
