Each year, Timberland High School participates in the South Carolina Young Adult Book Award and Banner Program.
This year Haley Kittrell won first place at the state for her banner depicting the book “The Name of the Star” by Maureen Johnson. The student body chose Haley’s Banner as their favorite and it was entered into the state contest.
The other THS results follow: Dongyu Chen and Brittney Sellers each received a 4gb jump drive for Honorable Mention; Third Place and a $10 Walmart gift card was presented to Tamia Gourdine for her banner depicting Trafficked; Second Place and a $15 Walmart gift card went to Tanisha Thompson for Cinder.
Haley received a $25 Walmart gift card. Congratulations to all these students.
Thanks to Walmart for donating the gift cards. Mrs. Donna Rodin, Media Specialist, is the sponsor of the program at Timberland.
Health Occupations Students of America sponsor Lori Cox took students to compete at State on March 14.
Congratulations to the following: Joequise Wright, a junior, who won first place overall in “Nutrition Knowledge Test”; Savannah Youngblood took first place overall in “Medical Assisting”; Kaitlyn Brown took second place overall in “Medical Assisting.” These students will compete in Orlando, FL the last week in June at the HOSA National Leadership Conference. They will compete in the same event as they did at state.
The two girls may have different skills for which they will have to be prepared.
