General Marion’s Brigade recently honored Kitty Mescher for 25 years of service in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Kitty is the Founding Member of the local DAR chapter of Berkeley County. It is because of her that General Marion’s Brigade exists.
On March 1 she was surprised by her DAR chapter with the DAR 25 Years Certificate, DAR Service Pin and flowers.
Two of her children, Karen Tanner and Cathy Johnson, and her granddaughter Kit Hinckle surprised her as well in attending the event.
The recognition was conducted at the annual Spring Luncheon at Wampee Conference Center.
Doug Bostick, Executive Director of the SC Battlefield Preservation Trust, was the guest speaker.
He shared with the members and guests, including several members of the Moncks Corner Town Council, details of the efforts to save a 1780 American Revolution fort near Moncks Corner.
If you are interested in joining the DAR, contact GeneralMarionsBrigade@gmail.com. The DAR is a service organization dedicated to preservation, patriotism and education. For more information visit the national website at www.DAR.org.
