Betty Jo Wiggins Clark

Betty Jo Wiggins Clark of Cross, wife of Samuel Clark, passed away March 3, 2014 in Mt. Pleasant. She was 71.

She was born June 19, 1942, in Berkeley County, a daughter of Gilbert Walter Wiggins and Sadie DeHay Wiggins.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Kelly C. Connor; a son, Samuel “Bubba” Clark; sisters Sadie Odom and husband, Fred, and Lynda Martin and husband, Ronald; a brother, Richard Wiggins and wife, Jane; and three grandchildren, Chelsie Clark, Sammy Connor and Cortez Gonzalez.

Services were held at Russell Funeral Chapel in Moncks Corner on March 7 March 7, with interment at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pearl L. Crawford

Pearl Leviner Crawford of Bonneau, wife of the late Peter R. Crawford, died Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 in a St. Stephen nursing home. She was 103.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty R. “Sister” McCaskill and her husband, Lee, of West Ashley; two sons, Otis Crawford and his wife, Alice, of Bonneau, and Pete Crawford and his wife, Harriet, of Turbeville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Fred C. Leise

Fred Calvin Leise of McClellanville, former owner of the J.A. Leise Company, died Wednesday evening, March 12, 2014 at his residence. He was 89.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy Niemietz Leise; two sons, Joseph A. Leise and his wife, Denise, of Geneva, IL, and Samuel L. P. Leise and his wife, Dawn, of Bristol, WI; a sister, Ruth Hasney and her husband, Bill, of Waukegan, IL; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Martha J. Ward

Martha “Marti” Jordan Ward of Moncks Corner, a former dietician at the Masonic Home in Florida, died Saturday evening, March 15, 2014 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. She was 80.

Surviving are a daughter, Candy Fender of Moncks Corner; a son, Richard Williams of Chehalis, WA; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
