Crash claims Jamestown man

A Jamestown man died Saturday in a traffic accident on French Santee Road.

According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, at 6:35 p.m. a pickup truck and a SUV were traveling on French Santee Road near Jamestown and collided. The front seat passenger in the truck, 67-year-old James Shuler of Jamestown, was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Salisbury. Four other were transported to local hospitals from the accident.

Mr. Shuler died from blunt force body trauma. He was not wearing a seatbelt and his death has been ruled accidental.

The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coronerís Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
