One man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting near Bonneau on March 11.

Salek Nelson, 36, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony.

Bond has been set at $50,000 for the latter two charges and no bond has been set for the attempted murder charges. Nelson is being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center in Moncks Corner.

The suspect drove by and shot at the victim, who was walking down the road, according to Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office PIO Dan Moon.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Old Horseshoe Road, according to an incident report.

The victim was standing in his yard with a gunshot wound to his upper left arm when a deputy arrived, according to the report.

The victim said an argument ensued between the subject and the victim along with others who were present with the victim. The victim was able to positively identity the subject, who he says drove down the street in a white Honda while shooting at the victim, according to the report.

EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
