Sharon K. Cross

Sharon Keller Cross of St. Stephen, co-owner and operator of Cross Country BBQ, died Thursday evening, March 6, 2014 in a Charleston hospital. She was 61.

Surviving are her husband, J. Wendell Cross; two sons, Anthony Cross and his fiancée, Tina Schatz, of Bonneau, and Gary Cross of Cordell, GA; a sister, Gay Mixon Valachovic of St. Stephen; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy B. Harris

Dorothy Brassell Harris of St. Stephen, former owner and operator of Dot’s Shop, died Saturday morning, March 8, 2014 at her residence. She was 77.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Harris and the Rev. Carmen Humbert, both of St. Stephen; a stepdaughter, Joann Hilton and her husband, Andy, of Florida; three sons, Jesse Harris Jr., Mark Harris and his wife, Lori, and Harley Harris, all of St. Stephen; a sister, Alma Morris of Lugoff; a brother, Wade Brassell of Elgin; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Benjamin F. McDonald Jr.

Chief Petty Officer Benjamin F. “Benny” McDonald Jr., US Navy, Ret., of Moncks Corner, died Friday morning, March 7, 2014 at his residence. He was 76.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Donley McDonald; a daughter, Janet Elaine Hicks of Ladson; a son, Benjamin F. “Benny” McDonald III and his wife, Lisa, of Moncks Corner; two stepdaughters, Lucinda Ambrose and Melinda Blake; two stepsons, Gene Dillon and John Dillon; a brother, Allen McDonald of Conyers, GA; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Mary Tucker Sims of St. Stephen died Monday afternoon, March 10, 2014 at her residence. She was 78.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, J. Russell Sims Sr.; three daughters, Margaret Carr and her husband, Dickie, of Macedonia, Tracy Murphy and her husband, Kenny, of St. Stephen; and Baby Doll Tucker and her husband, Marvin, of Greenville; four sons, Johnny R. Sims Jr. of Summerville, Bud Sims and his wife, Becky, of Bethera, Caboose Sims of James Island, and Stump Sims of St. Stephen; a sister, Marshalene Barnette of Russellville; three brothers, Marvin Tucker of Greenville, Vernon Tucker and his wife, Nita, of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Rolston Tucker and his wife, Nautie, of St. Stephen; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
