Collins sets school records at Bob Hayes Invitational

Angelica Collins broke two school records to lead Wando track and field last weekend in the 50th Annual Bob Hayes Invitational in Tampa, Fla.

Collins took first with a triple jump of 39 feet, four inches, jumping almost a foot further than second place. She placed fourth in the long jump at 18-10, just an inch off of third place.

Sarah Lee took second in girls pole vault at 11 feet, while Kendall Mercer came in third at 10 feet.

Kenny Waring finished first overall in the boys long jump at 22-11.75. Gauge Wood took first in the pole vault at 13-6, while Chance Price finished fourth at 12 feet.

A.J. Gawryluk finished second in the 1,600 at four minutes, 31 seconds. Gawryluk then took second in the 3,200, finishing in 9:55.34.

Wando track returns home Saturday to host the Mellow Mushroom Relays. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and features more than 2,000 athletes from across the state.
