St. Stephen Elementary School was named a Leader in Me Lighthouse School at the 2014 Leadership Symposium at Charleston Southern University on Feb. 28. SSE practices Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People in the school and community.
Along with the habits, the Leader in Me Initiative begins teaching students at 4 years old the importance of goal setting, data tracking, working to achieve your goals, and above all, that “Leadership is for everyone!”
Reaching Lighthouse Status means St. Stephen Elementary is an exemplar of what a leadership school should look like and be. There are currently 71 Lighthouse schools in the entire world – St. Stephen is officially no. 71, and the only school in Berkeley County to achieve this milestone.
SSE will hold its annual Leadership Day 2014 on April 10. All are invited to attend; register at www.berkeley.k12.sc.us/ststephen.cfm or by calling the school at 567-2813.
