St. Stephen UMC hosting Giant Yard Sale

A Giant Yard Sale will be held in the social hall at St. Stephen United Methodist Church at183 Hood Street.

The yard sale will be held on Friday, March 7 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and again on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

There will be many useful household goods, including small kitchen appliances, books, clothing in good condition and toys at great bargain prices. Everyone is welcome.

General Marion Memorial Service

The annual General Francis Marion Memorial Day service will be on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend the service, which will take place at Marion’s Tomb.

The NSDAR General Marion’s Brigade Chapter will be conducting the service. General Marion’s Brigade, Elizabeth Peyre Richardson Manning and Margaret Gregg Gordon DAR Chapters will present the wreaths.

The Washington Light Infantry will serve as Color Guard. Jean Guerry and John Wiggins are the guest speakers, and John Mark McQuown is the guest singer.

Women’s wellness

The second Saturday of each month is Women’s Wellness at the Sumpter Free Health Clinic located at1083 Hwy 35 in St. Stephen. If you are over the age of 18 and have no health insurance, call for an appointment at 825-3550.

The Sumpter Free Health Clinic exists to provide free health care for those with no health insurance and to provide other human need services for those living in the most impoverished, rural areas.

Sumpter Free Health Clinic specializes in diabetes and high blood pressure management but doesn’t provide emergency services or pain management services. It is open on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

This free clinic is funded by kind donations from Berkeley County and surrounding areas, as well as grants, fundraisers, corporate and individual donors.


The annual St. Stephen Catfish Festival is scheduled for March 28, 29 and 30. Plans are being made for the best festival yet. If anyone is interested in being a vendor or has questions, contact Cindy Wadford at 567-3565 or 567-4755.
