The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• Two brothers got into a fight about a generator on Feb. 15 in Bonneau. The victim, who is the older brother, said his brother came to his apartment and started an argument. The victim said he believed the suspect had been drinking. The suspect was insisting on using the generator, which the victim said he could not loan out because he was borrowing it from his landlord. The suspect became even more upset and punched the victim in the stomach, causing him to fall backward over a coffee table. The deputy did not see any signs of injury on the victim. The suspect was gone by the time the deputy arrived.
• Sometime between Feb. 3 and Feb. 13 an abandoned trailer near Moncks Corner was broken into. The victim and owner of the trailer said his white stove was missing. It was valued at $150.
• A suspicious fire was reported on Winding Road near Moncks Corner on Feb. 14. A witness called 911 at about 1:30 p.m. but the residence was fully engulfed in flames by the time the fire department arrived. The fire chief told a deputy they had responded to the same residence at about 4:20 a.m. in reference to a couch fire. The victim told the chief they had left the residence at about 3 a.m. to find a hotel and when they returned at 4 a.m. they found the couch burnt. The chief said they found a burnt hole in the couch and a 4-inch burnt spot on the floor under the couch. The chief said they completely extinguished this fire and cleared the residence at about 5:30 a.m. The chief said during the afternoon visit a clothes dryer was on the side of the porch and had not been there during the earlier incident.
• Sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 13 and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 14 several items of heavy construction equipment were vandalized off Cypress Gardens Road.
Six windows on five pieces of heavy equipment were damaged at a construction site. The damaged items were a Hitachi excavator with a broken side window, a yellow Cat excavator with a broken side window, a yellow Volvo loader with a broken side window, a yellow Volvo off-road truck with a broken windshield and a yellow Cat bulldozer with a broken side window. The total damage is estimated at $1,800.
