The Belle Isle Garden has selected its February Yard of the Month. The lovely home and gardens of Ray and Sherry Sedgewick has received the award.

Members of the organization wish to thank the Sedgewicks for creating and maintaining their beautiful gardens and property, which members of the community can appreciate and enjoy. Their home is located at 1235 Longpoint Road in Cross.

CHS Symposium

MSG Bobby J. Matthews of Cross High School has again sponsored a JROTC/College Summit Community Employment Symposium Session in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room on Feb. 8.

The event provided information to area residents and those interested in learning about preparatory skills needed for available employment openings and opportunities.

Special Thanks

I wish to thank the Greenland Baptist Church family, especially Pastor Sinclair Butler, all pulpit associates, officers, members and friends (especially Sister Diane Brown), for the kind and warm manner in which they accepted and received me on Feb. 2. It was a pleasure sharing with them as they conducted their annual Black History Program.

All participants performed in an outstanding manner, with special appreciation to the wonderful Mistress of Ceremony, Sister Catherine Gourdine, the church’s youth praise dancers, the wonderful poem and a most delicious repast.
