Trojans go cold against Baptist Hill 48-43
A cold second half signaled the end of the Cross Trojansí run at a possible Region 6A championship.
CHS came up short against Baptist Hill 48-43 on Feb. 4 in front of a packed house at the Cross High School gymnasium.
Taking a 26-22 lead into the second half, the Trojans could muster just a single point in the third quarter and 12 points in the entire second half.
The loss drops Cross (5-13 overall) to a 4-3 Region 6A record and the regionís third seed going into next weekís playoffs behind Baptist Hill and St. Johnís.
The win was also number 743 for longtime coach Earl Brown, spanning a 44-year coaching career.
Dawayne Gaddis led the Trojans with 17 points and Hibiki Oshiro added seven.
The Trojans were set to close out the regular season with three road games against St. Johnís, Lincoln and Military Magnet.
The Class A playoffs begin Feb. 18.
