Winter storm watch in effect

  • Monday, February 10, 2014

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for inland portions of South Carolina, including Moncks Corner and upper Berkeley County.

The watch is in effect from late Tuesday night through Thursday morning, according to the NWS.

According to the service, a significant accumulation of freezing rain could create dangerous driving conditions; the possibility of ice damage to trees and power lines will again be present, and electrical outages are also a threat.

Ice accumulations are possible.

The forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday calls for rain and high temperatures in the mid to upper 30’s.

“Once the storm begins, conditions (may) deteriorate rapidly, and travel will become dangerous or impossible,” the service stated.
