Second Annual USS Yorktown CV-10 Association Scholarship Opportunity

For the second year the USS YORKTOWN CV-10 Association is offering two $1,250 scholarships, renewable for up to 3 additional years, for a total of $5,000. Graduating high school seniors from Charleston Area Tri-County schools are eligible to apply, as are direct descendants of Crew Members who served on the USS YORKTOWN. “We are excited too see our scholarship program enter its second year. It's a rewarding service to provide deserving students the means to continue their education,” said Yorktown Association Executive Director Todd Cummins.


The Scholarship Program

Dedicated to educating and inspiring patriotism in new generations while preserving the ship and memorializing her crews, the USS Yorktown CV-10 Association has established a scholarship program to assist crew descendants and area students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.


Eligibility

In addition to the above criteria, students must also:

• Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

• Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

• Be a United States Citizen.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services®, a division of Scholarship America®. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.


About the USS Yorktown CV-10 Association

The USS Yorktown CV-10 Association is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to educating and inspiring patriotism in new generations while preserving the ship and memorializing her crew. The USS Yorktown is an aircraft carrier at Patriots Point in Charleston Harbor in Mount Pleasant, SC. The association offices are located aboard the ship in Hangar Bay II. Also known as The Fighting Lady, the Yorktown was in service from 1943-1970 and saw action during World War II, the Korean, and Vietnam wars.
