NAACP program kicks off Black History Month

The Moncks Corner Branch of the NAACP will begin its Black History Month Celebrations with a breakfast program at 9 a.m. on Feb. 1 at the Moncks Corner Masonic Lodge Hall on New Highway 52.

The breakfast speaker will be Rep. Joseph H. Jefferson Jr., and the donation for the event is $7. The public is invited to attend as the organization focuses on its 2013-14 theme: “We are, Because They Were!”

Dingle Family Reunion

The Dingle Family Reunion Committee met recently to begin the reunion planning phase and to select the theme for the event. The 2014 Theme is: “Dingle Family United in Love” and the reunion is planned for July.

Information for the reunion booklet must be mailed or delivered to Pat D. Smalls at 409 Annie’s Lane, St. Stephen, SC 29479. Information may be emailed to her at: patdsmalls71@yahoo.com. Please provide 50 copies of 8 ˝ x 11 pages of information to be included in the booklet.

Black History Month

Greenland Baptist Church in the Eadytown Section of Pineville will conduct its annual Black History Program on Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. The speaker for the occasion will be Williamsburg County School District Superintendent Dr. Yvonne Jefferson-Barnes.

All are invited to be present. The Rev. Sam Glover is Pastor, and Sister Brown is the program chairperson.


Expressions of sympathy are being sent to the families of the following persons: the late Penny Kroger of St. Stephen; the late Willie James Wright, of St. Stephen and the late Harry Croker, also of St. Stephen.

We will continue to keep these families in our thoughts and prayers.
