The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
Just after midnight on Jan. 9 a deputy responded to a West Cotton Patch Lane residence in Bonneau after two men got into a verbal altercation over a television antenna. The victim said he and his brother-in-law were arguing heatedly before things turned physical and the victim was pushed out of the door. The victim said when he left, his brother-in-law kicked his television that he claims ownership of and broke it. The deputy did not observe any damage to the television. The brother-in-law said the victim has mental issues. The victim confirmed that he has medical issues with his brain.
A complainant reported that someone entered the Berkeley Shrine Club building sometime between Dec. 17 and Jan. 7 and stole $172. Someone had to use a key to get into the backdoor leading to the kitchen area, where they attempted to pry the door open. After the prying didn’t work, the hinge pins were removed and the door was taken off. The perpetrator then took $124 from one jar of cash and $48 from another.
On Jan. 6 a deputy responded to a Tobacco Road residence near St. Stephen after a landlord reported that a mobile home he owns and rents was burglarized. The home has been vacant and the owner has been doing repairs. He noticed on Jan. 6 that all the copper wire had been stripped from the home, which damaged the walls. The damages are estimated at $8,000.
An England Road man called deputies on Jan. 6. He said he was in the process of moving his property out of the residence after being given notice by his landlord. The victim said there was no written contract, just a verbal agreement that he had to be out in five days. The victim said new tenants came to the residence and threw all his property out onto the front yard and left the interior in disarray.
