The annual All-County Line football team will be released in the Jan. 2 edition of The Gazette.
The squad is chosen by the sports staffs at The Gazette, Berkeley Independent and Summerville Journal Scene and recognizes football players from schools in Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
The All-County Line team will be highlighted by coaches of the year, offensive players of the year and defensive players of the year from each county.
The 2013 football season saw some of the teams from each county go on to have special years.
The Stratford Knights advanced to the Class AAAA Div. II state championship game, while Summerville and Timberland high schools played in the state semifinals of their classifications.
Goose Creek and Hanahan high schools suffered tough upset losses in the second round of the playoffs but were ultimately two of the best teams in the state.
The aim of the All-County Line team is to recognize as many deserving players from the area as possible and every effort was made to be as balanced as possible in selecting players from each school.
