Alvey excels in state dance competition

Provided Jordan Alvey won the Miss Dance Masters of America South Carolina title on Nov. 23 and will compete at the national convention in Orlando, Fla., this summer.

Jordan Alvey won the Miss Dance Masters of America South Carolina title on Nov. 23 at the state competition in Greenville. Jordan is a senior member of the Goose Creek High School Berkeley Center for the Arts Dance Program, and she is a senior company member of Planet Dance studio in Ladson.

Jordan will represent South Carolina this summer as she competes nationally in Orlando, Florida at the Dance Masters of America National Convention.

Jordan has been dancing at Planet Dance since she was a little girl under the direction of her mother, Nancy Alvey. She also has been a member of the BCA Dance Program, under the direction of Erica Skibinski, for four years.

She is thrilled to have won the title after competing for it for over 9 years, and she is excited to have this honor as she starts looking ahead towards her future in a college dance program.

The BCA Dance Program will be holding its Winter Showcase on Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. in the GCHS Fine Arts Building. Admission is free.
