Swamp Foxes split with Cobras

Rob Gantt/Journal Scene Ariel Glover has helped the Lady Swamp Foxes get out to a 2-1 start this season.

Ashley Ridge and Cane Bay split their games on the hardwood Friday.

The Ashley Ridge girls earned a 43-19 win at Cane Bay while the Swamp Fox boys fell 74-57 to the Cobras.

The Lady Swamp Foxes outscored Cane Bay 14-6 in the opening period and 11-4 in the second to take a healthy lead into the half. They came out of the locker room just as strong to take a 37-12 lead into the final quarter.

Shelby Daly led all scorers with 15 points while Ashley Tierney added 7 for the Lady Swamp Foxes and Morgan Bowers added 6. Makayla Dudley led Cane Bay with 10 points.

The Ashley Ridge girls improved to 2-1 on the season with the victory.

The Cane Bay boys got off to a fast start in their game, outscoring Ashley Ridge 21-12 in the opening quarter. The Swamp Foxes made up a little ground, cutting the lead to 6 in the second quarter.

However, the Cobras outscored the Swamp Foxes by 10 points in the third and then matched Ashley Ridge’s 15 points in the final quarter.

Cane Bay’s Jiquan Hammond led all scorers with 29 points while Louis Rivers added 20 for the Cobras. Raekwon Jones led Ashley Ridge with 15 points.

The Cane Bay boys improved to 2-2 with the win while Ashley Ridge fell to 2-1.

Ashley Ridge plays at Stratford on Thursday.
