ITNCharlestonTrident marked its seventh anniversary of providing dignified rides with volunteer driver Nancy Brown providing a ride to member rider Nancy McCart. Brown met McCart at her residence and provided her with a ride to McCart’s medical appointment.
In addition to helping ITNCharlestonTrident celebrate its seventh anniversary, volunteer driver Nancy Brown and member rider Nancy McCart participated in the 41,797th ride since ITNCharlestonTrident provided its first ride on Nov. 15, 2006.
During the seven years of providing dignified transportation to seniors 60 and older and visually impaired adults, moe than 800 member riders have counted on ITNCharlestonTrident to provide them with safe, reliable and affordable transportation while countless numbers of family members have felt confident that their mom or dad were in good hands.
Utilizing standard automobiles with volunteers using their own vehicles and paid drivers using donated cars, ITNCharlestonTrident’s goal is to permit its member riders to enjoy the freedom and independence that comes from being able to go to any destination for any purpose in the areas served by ITN. All of ITNCharlestonTrident’s drivers, both volunteers and paid, undergo a thorough background and driving record check and participate in a comprehensive training program before providing their first ride. Providing reliable and on-time rides with a focus on a high level of customer service, is the hallmark of the ITNCharlestonTrident dignified transportation program.
ITNCharlestonTrident’s volunteer drivers routinely provide 50 percent or more of all of the rides provided to member riders.
