Veterans Day Celebration
The local Cross Community, under the guidance of Mr. John Henry Wallace (Curly), celebrated its local veterans at Spiers Landing Park on Sunday, Nov. 10.
A selection was sung by Ms. Viola Smalls and Mr. George Wilson Jr. provided the fellowship from the grill.
Several veterans from the Army, Navy, and Marines came and told of their military experiences. Veterans included Leroy, Edward, and Robert Ravenell, Quintin Joyner, Bobby Matthews, John and Lillie Whitten, Nathaniel Footman, Rufus Smalls, Moses Wright, Nathaniel Pinckney, Henry Middleton, Alonzo Ferguson, Leroy Simmons, and Oscar Cash Sr.
Several others were honored at local churches. Thank you to our veterans for all you have done to make us safe and enjoy the liberties that we have. Thank you for all who helped to make this program success!
Next year will be even better
Cross Community Center says Thank You
On behalf of the Cross Community Center Fundraising Committee and Maxine Glover and Yvonne Bradley, the center thanks you one and all for what you did to help make the recent fundraisers successful. We raised over $3,400 that will be used to refurbish bathrooms and ceiling in the center. We hope to have all the work done as soon as possible.
If you would like to donate, please contact Yvonne 753-3150 or Maxine 753-2573 to pick up your donation.
Mr. Nathaniel Footman is the director and is doing a terrific job. Give him a pat on the back with you see him. Don’t criticize without a suggestion to help fix the problem!
