Each week, the Moultrie News and the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will feature local cross country athletes participating in the department.
Maggie McWhirt, 8, and Colin Baker, 12, both run with the Mount Pleasant Track Club.
Question: If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?
Maggie McWhirt: My Mom.

Q: What is your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?
MM: Okra Grill.
CB: Mellow Mushroom
Q: What is the best moment in your athletic career?
MM: My first place win!
CB: Making it to regionals this past summer in track and field for the 1500m and 3000.
Q: What is the best advice you have gotten from a coach?
MM: Go, Go, Go, Go, Go, Go!
CB: Hard work pays off.
Q: What do you look forward to the most about being an adult?
MM: Becoming a star athlete.
CB: Being independent.
Q: What do you think are the most difficult and most fun aspects of cross country?
MM: Difficult – Going up the hill; Fun – Running cross country.
CB: The most difficult part is pushing yourself through the physical exhaustion and the most fun part is the team spirit and the support from teammates.
Q: What is your movie and TV show?
MM: TV - “Jessie;” Movie - “Oz, The Great and Powerful.”
CB: Movie: “Kings of Summer;” TV: “Modern Family”
Q: If you could have dinner with any three people who would you choose?
MM: Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Kendall Schmidt (Big Time Rush).
CB: Lionel Messi, Will Ferrell and Andy Samberg.
