The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant in the amount of $60, 364 from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, Office of Highway Safety, to fund a Traffic/DUI program.

The BCSO announced the grant last week.

The funds are a renewal from the original grant awarded back in 2012-2013 to continue the program through 2014.

With this award the BCSO continues its aggressive and proactive effort to reduce traffic-related fatalities throughout the county while focusing on DUI enforcement.

Sheriff Wayne DeWitt said

“The main goal and objectives in implementing this program is to decrease fatalities in the county, while making Berkeley County a safer place to live and travel,” Sheriff Wayne DeWitt said.
