The Stratford cross country teams competed in the Class AAAA state championships on Saturday at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.
The Knights finished 13th, while the Lady Knights came in 15th place.
Only the top 20 teams out of 52 Class AAAA schools qualified for the state meet so the Stratford programs still had a solid season.
The best overall finish by a Stratford runner was turned in by junior Alex Zimmer in the girls race. She placed 14th with a time of 19:07.46.
Junior Bethany Reeves was 30th with a time of 19:47.03.
The Lady Knights also counted times from senior Tiffany Hutson (21:27.38), eighth-grader Lauren Adams (21:43.29) and junior Zaria Dennis (22:56.31).
For the Stratford boys, senior Ryan Abdullah was the top finisher in 33rd place with a time of 16:52.69. Freshman Kyle Thomas was 69th at 17:11.71.
The Knights also counted times from seniors Austin Weaver (17:13.80), Morgan Woods (17:44.61) and Brett Alford (17:54.20).
Riverside won the girls title while Mauldin was the champion in the boys race.
The lone state championship team from the area was Academic Magnet in Class AA boys.
Wando’s boys were second in Class AAAA, while Bishop England’s girls were runner-up in Class AA.
