Community health forum set for Oct. 26
The Moncks Corner Branch of the NAACP will conduct a health forum addressing the Affordable Health Care Act on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge on Hwy. 52 in Moncks Corner.
The presenter will be Dr. Bambi Gaddist, Executive Director of South Carolina’s HIV/AIDS Council.
The Antioch Baptist Laymen’s Auxiliary conducted its 16th Annual Oratorical Contest, Oct. 12 at the Day Dawn Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The special speakers were three young men representing churches of the Antioch Baptist Association.
Each was outstanding, and received a certificate of appreciation along with a monetary gift from the Auxiliary.
We congratulate these participants on their performance and are pleased to acknowledge the winner, Malik Nelson, who represented the Day Dawn Baptist Church of Pineville. The other participants were Ontario Malik Frazier, Bethlehem Baptist Church; and Daniel Seabrook, Providence Baptist Church.
Deacon Edward Carter serves as president of the Laymen’s Auxiliary, and the Rev. Dr. Leon G. Brown serves as the Association’s moderator.
The Cross High School Blood Drive, conducted during the month of October, saw faculty, and many students respond.
This was attributed to a tremendous amount of hard work in getting the community to understand the need to give blood. The next blood drive is scheduled for April 9, 2014, and will be an even greater success. A total of 26 people donated.
We commend Cross ROTC instructor Master Sergeant Matthews, again, on his motivation to support this most worthy cause, and wish him continued success with all future events.
World Day of Prayer
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Antioch Baptist Association will conduct it’s Annual World Day of Prayer Program, on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
The event will be held at the St. Stephen Baptist Church.
