The South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals will celebrate National Philanthropy Day on Nov. 13 with a luncheon and awards presentation at Trident Technical College. Local individual, community and corporate philanthropists will be recognized for their contributions to the local community. This year, youth in philanthropy will also be recognized.

For 50 years, AFP has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising. Awards will be given for:

Outstanding Individual,

Outstanding Community Organization or Foundation.

New category - Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, ages 5-17 and 18-26

Rev. Bill Stanfield, executive director of Metanoia, is this year’s keynote speaker. He will reprise his recent TEDTalk, “When Trying to Solve Problems Does Not Solve Problems.”

“This event is the preeminent opportunity to recognize and honor members of our local community for what they do for others,” explained Tom Walker, AFP SC Lowcountry Chapter president. “As an organization, this is our favorite day of the year.” Last year’s honorees were Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Cato, General Dynamics and Trident United Way. The National Philanthropy Day luncheon will be held at Trident Technical College, 7000 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.
