While football is a team sport, sometimes you run into unstoppable one-man scoring machines.
That’s what happened to St. John’s Christian Academy against Beaufort Academy on Oct. 11. The Cavs met a one-man scoring machine by the name of Reyn Robinson and could not stop him.
Robinson, who averages more than 260 yards rushing and 26 points per game had himself a night, rushing for 406 yards on 33 carries and scoring seven touchdowns to lead Beaufort to a 50-22 win over the Cavaliers in SCISA 8-Man Football action.
After Robinson scored his first touchdown of the night, the Cavs answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Parsons to Harun Scott to close the gap to 8-6.
Robinson would tally three more TDs on the ground before SJCA could respond. Scott scored his second touchdown of the night, this time on the ground, with a 49-yard touchdown run to make the score 24-14.
The Cavaliers closed the gap to eight points in the third quarter on a Parsons 50-yard touchdown pass to Damian Hurta, but that would be as close as the Beaufort Academy phenom would let the Cavaliers get.
Robinson found pay dirt three more times over the game’s final 12 minutes to put this one away, 50-22.
The Cavaliers fall to 3-5 on the season and 2-3 in region play and host Charleston Collegiate on Friday night at Cavaliers Field.
