Jim Arriola



Jim Arriola of Moncks Corner, a retired master craftsman for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, died Tuesday, Oct. 1 in a North Charleston Hospital. He was 68.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Ellis and her husband, Hal of Williston, SC; a sister, Manilla Daubs of Moncks Corner; and two grandchildren.

Elaine V. Barnett



Elaine Vice Barnett, wife of the late William Allen Barnett, died Oct. 5 surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are three daughters, Sylvia (Terrence) King of Largo, FL, Paulette (Walter) Stovall of Greenville, and Margaret (Frank) Pinckney of Blacksburg, VA; two sisters, Jewell (James Gayle) Smith of Burlington, KY, and Joyce Jones of Verona, KY; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Vice of Knoxville, TN, and Jane Lancaster of Shelbyville, KY; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Martha Jo McGlothlin



Martha Jo Hogan McGlothlin of Moncks Corner, a retired assistant principal with the Berkeley County School District, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. She was 75.

Surviving are two sons, David McGlothlin and his wife, Debbie, of Timmonsville, and Brian McGlothlin and his wife, Donna, of Moncks Corner; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; her mother-in-law, Fannie McGlothlin; her brother-in-law, Joe McGlothlin and his wife, Gail; two special friends, Robbie Joyce and Florence Timmons; and her pets, Smokey, George and Fluff Puff.

Thomas H. Purdy



Thomas Howard Purdy of Alvin, a retired personnel man first class for the United States Navy, died Thursday morning, Oct. 3, 2013 in a North Charleston hospital. He was 77.

Surviving are his wife, Barri Lynn Alongi Legare Purdy; two daughters, Kaye Elizabeth Palmer of Bluffton, and Bridget Gail Purdy of West Ashley; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
