St. Stephen’s annual October Festival begins Friday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. On Saturday, the festival will continue from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Plan to bring family and friends to enjoy amusement rides, vendors, fire fighter competition, entertainment, puppets and much more.
A schedule of events was published in last week’s Independent.
The St. Stephen Community History Room and Café will be open on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The menu will consist of vegetable beef soup, corn bread, homemade dessert and rolls.
The cost of lunch is $7. Dine-in or takeout plates are available.
The community café is located on Bay Street, inside of the St. Stephen History Room, and managed by local volunteers. Support from the public is greatly appreciated.

Omar Belairs Fundraiser
The Omar Temple Belairs will present “The Womanless Beauty Pageant” on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Berkeley Shrine Club (630 Levee Drive in Moncks Corner, 761-8515).
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The beauty pageant begins at 7 p.m.
There will be finger foods, a cash bar, and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets are $15. Proceeds will benefit the Omar Belairs and are not deductible as a charitable contribution.
