The Berkeley Lady Stags swim team put an exclamation point on the 2013 fall season by downing West Ashley and Stratford, 134-90-66 during a recent meet at the Crowfield Community Pool.
In boys competition the Stags finished third to West Ashley and Stratford, 154-96-30.
Winners for the boys were the 200-yard medley relay team, tying West Ashley with a time of 1:58.21. Boys swim team members competing in the meet were Tyler Mills, Trevor Hennick, William Wilkins, and David Wilkins. On the girls’ side Jessica Belille, Ashley Thornal and Sarah Munday brought home double firsts as the Lady Swim Stags won going away.
Belille took top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:19.27 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:11.59. Ashley Thornal won twice in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.59 and the 100-yard breast stroke with a time of 1:21.41. And Sarah Mundy nailed a twin-killing in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.30 and in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.83.
Other Lady Stags winners were Sarah West in the 200-yard intermediate medley with a time of 2:33.71; Sierra Stewart in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:18.68; and the Lady Stags 200-yard Medley relay team with a time of 2:08.24.
The Stratford girls 400-yard freestyle relay team was the only team to keep this from being a clean Berkeley sweep in the meet taking first with a time of 4:33.71.
Lady Stags swim team members are Jessical Belille, Tiffany Hennick, Ashley Thornal, Sierra Stewart, Kaitlyn Mundy, Sarah Mundy, Sarah West, Savannah Spinner and Savannah Harris. The Class AAAstate swim meet was held on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
