The American Red Cross provided disaster relief assistance last week to a family of two adults and three children who were displaced by a fire that caused major damage to their mobile home in Pineville.

The Red Cross provided the family with lodging, funds to replace food and clothing, comfort kits containing personal hygiene items and referrals to partnering agencies.

On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours.

Since Jan. 1, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of more 1,200 families and 3,700 individuals affected by disaster.

The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35 counties of South Carolina.
