None hurt in county school bus fire

  • Monday, October 7, 2013

A fire broke out on a county school bus around 7:50 a.m. Monday, but no students were injured.

“It was a very minor fire that started somewhere in the rear of the school bus,” Berkeley County School District PIO Susan Haire said.

The fire occurred as the bus was heading to Berkeley High School on Cooper Store Road.

“Students were evacuated from the bus and the fire was quickly extinguished,” Haire said.

A replacement bus arrived on the scene and transported the students to school.

The fire is still under investigation.
