Crime in the County

  • Wednesday, September 18, 2013

The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office incident reports:
• A St. Stephen property property owner noticed on Sept. 7 that the doors were open and a Whirlpool window air conditioning unit was missing from a residence that is currently unoccupied. The victim said he called a Moncks Corner pawnshop who said no one had pawned such an item.
• A Bonneau woman found her stolen shotgun while shopping at a Moncks Corner pawnshop on Sept. 7. On April 1 she had noticed the gun was missing from her residence.
She spoke with the store manager saying she believed it was hers. The complainant had a receipt of purchase with the gun’s serial number, which matched that on the pawn contract. A St. Stephen woman was listed as the suspect.
• At about 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 a clerk reported that two males pulled up in a burgundy Chevy pickup truck to buy gas at a Cross bait and tackle shop. As they pulled away from the pump they pulled the nozzle along with them as they had left it in the fuel tank, causing damage to the pump. The clerk wrote down the license plate number.
The fuel pump damage is estimated to be $600.
• An Atkins Landing Lane man reported that a man was coming to the edge of his property at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 screaming at the top of his lungs he “wanted his $30.” A deputy arrived, and the subject was arrested and issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
