Community-wide blood drive set for Sept. 21
 
MSG Bobby J. Matthews of the Cross High School JROTC will facilitate the second annual community-wide blood drive on Sept. 21. It will be conducted at the St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church located at 272 Highway45 in St. Stephen from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Contact Matthews at 899-8900, ext. 2203. All telephone messages will be returned.
 
Mental Health
 
In efforts to break the stigma of mental illness the Lowcountry Mental Health Group will be having a prayer walk/educational/and awareness event on Saturday, Oct. 26. 
This important event is now in the planning stage.  If you or your organization or anyone you know are interested in providing information at this public event, contact Debbie Hutchinson by email at info@avoid-online.org
 
Contest Extended
 
The Berkeley County Library has extended the contest asking for help to name the new mobile library. 
The winner receives a new iPad mini courtesy of the Friends of the Library.  All entries are due by Aug. 31.

Friends of Berkeley Blueways
 
Paddlers are needed to volunteer to help cleanup Chimney Island on Lake Marion and also clean up the shore to the left and right of the Duck Pond Trail on Lake Moultrie.  The cleanup will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 as part of the SC Beach/River Sweep.  Bags and gloves will be provided.

A family has lost their two-year-old Maltese who went missing from their
home near the Berkeley Country Club in Moncks Corner, on Friday night Aug. 2.  Sam is a white male who weighs 4.6 pounds. A reward is being offered.  If anyone has information to help find Sam and return him home, call 532-2208 or 819-9144 or email cmizzell@homesc.com.
