St. Timothy Family Fun Fair Sept. 8
Join St. Timothy Lutheran Church for its Annual Family Fun Fair from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The day will include live music, games, face painting, jump castles, pony rides, petting zoo, food and more. Everyone in the community is invited! This event is free.

Alzheimer's support groups continue
The local Alzheimer's Association has three caregiver support groups in the area held at different locations on the second Monday of each month.
Locations are Metro North Church (5:30-6:30 p.m.) at 109 Central Avenue in Goose Creek; Moncks Corner Medical Center (11 a.m – noon) on N. Live Oak Drive, and the Otranto Road library (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.) in North Charleston.

Ladies Auxiliary steak night first and third Saturday
The Ladies Auxiliary VFW holds steak night the first and third Saturday of every month. The cost is $10.
The Auxiliary's regular monthly meeting is the second Monday of every month at 7 p.m.; trivia nights are held on the first and fourth Mondays of the month.
Salute to Small Business Sept. 3
The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce's annual Salute to Small Business Luncheon is scheduled for 12 Noon on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Redbank Club in Goose Creek (2316 Redbank Road).
The event costs $40 for members and $50 for non-members.
Shrine Club announces Friday dinners
The public is invited every Friday night to the Berkeley Shrine Club: a spaghetti dinner is set for every first Friday; a potluck dinner is every second Friday; a fish fry is every third Friday; and a steak dinner is every fourth Friday. The cost of each dinner varies.

Goose Creek is seeking arts/craft vendors, food vendors and sponsors for its “2013 Fall Festival” on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center.

Mental illness support group meets weekly
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) Berkeley is a weekly support group for those who suffer from a mental illness and for those whose friend or loved one does.
The support group meets every Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church (510 St. James Avenue) in the All Ministers Center (behind the church) in Room 5 from 7-8 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to visit and support those with mental illnesses such as depression and bipolar disorder.

Habitat information session Aug. 29
Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County (berkeleyhabitat.org) will hold a community information session on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Roper Berkeley Hospital in Moncks Corner from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Come learn more about Habitat for Humanity and our work in Berkeley County. There will be a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, including in construction, family services, and at the ReStore, to name a few. Light refreshments will be served.

Tea Ladies meet first Wednesday
The Tea Ladies of the St. James Goose Creek Parish meet on the first Wednesday of each month. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Co-op Building at 2 Springhall Drive in Goose Creek.

'MOPS' begins Sept. 9
A local chapter of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is scheduled to begin Sept. 9 at Pointe North Community Church in Moncks Corner.
MOPS is a program designed to nurture mothers with children from birth through Kindergarten. First Steps meeting Sept. 17
The Berkeley County First Steps Partnership Board encourages the public to attend its meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the media room of the Fishburne Educational Center at 6215 Murray Drive in Hanahan.
County residents who attend the meeting can learn more about the results of the First Steps to School Readiness program in the county as well as future plans.

The Moncks Corner NAACP monthly meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. The next meeting is on Aug. 19 at the Masonic Lodge on new Hwy. 52 in Moncks Corner.
Toastmaster meetings set
Trident Tek Talkers Toastmasters next meeting is on Monday, Sept. 9 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Trident Technical College, Building 920, Room 763.
Allaboard Toastmasters is meeting at the First Baptist Church in Goose Creek on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. If you'd like to have confidence in speaking in public, learn listening skills and thinking on your feet, you are welcome to attend either meeting.
