North Charleston Police Department officer Stanley Tucker, 27, was arrested for DUI early Thursday after crashing into another vehicle while he was off-duty.
That’s according to information released by S.C. Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres.
The accident occurred at about 12:40 a.m. in Charleston County at the intersection of U.S.-78 and Ladson Road.
A 26-year-old man was in a 2012 four-door Chevy at the red light on U.S.-78 waiting to turn left onto Ladson Road.
Tucker was driving a 2005 Chevy pickup heading down Ladson Road when he attempted to make a right turn onto U.S.-78 heading in the direction of Charleston Southern University when he crashed into the side of the vehicle waiting at the red light, according to Beres.
The driver of the vehicle Tucker struck was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured, according to Beres.
Tucker was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center and has a court date set for Sept. 19, according to the detention center website.
