Someone who claimed they were fired from the C.R. Bard plant off Powerhouse Road near Moncks Corner called in a bomb threat on Aug. 13.
According to a Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office report, shortly after 10:30 a.m. a soft-spoken male with a flat and even tone, which the telephone operator did not recognize, said: “Y’all fired me, now I’m (going to) show what I can do. Blow up the place.”
The company’s human resources manager said the call came through Internet home phone services line 181 and they had recently terminated an employee from Express Personnel Services, according to the report.
Deputies, a detective and a K-9 unit responded. While they were en route the building was being evacuated.
Officers conducted a security sweep along with the maintenance manager. They declared the C.R. Bard building safe at 11:52 a.m., according to the report.
C.R. Bard develops, manufactures and markets medical technologies, according to their website.
