Red Cross assists two county families

The American Red Cross assisted two Berkeley County families whose residences burned last week.
The Red Cross assisted one adult living on Guerry Circle in Goose Creek early that morning, according to a press release. The local chapter also provided disaster relief to a Whitesville family of three adults, one child and one infant displaced by a home fire that morning.
The Red Cross provided lodging, food and comfort kits, which included basic hygiene items. The Red Cross also provided referrals of local businesses to assist the family.
On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto, SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since Jan. 1 the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 986 families and 3,058 individuals affected by disaster.
