Freedom Church of Moncks Corner is preparing to celebrate its second anniversary on Aug. 18.
Currently meeting in Whitesville Elementary School with a future building planned on Cypress Gardens Road, Freedom Church is the fulfillment of a dream of Pastor Shawn Wood: Help people far from God find freedom in Christ.
From the beginning, Freedom Church focused on reaching out to the non-church community by building relationships through community groups and serving Berkeley County with the love of Jesus Christ. Sixty-five people committed their lives to Christ and were baptized the first year.
Currently, over 400 people worship regularly at Freedom, enjoying joy-filled music, a simple style of service, and the life-giving message of the Gospel. For the upcoming anniversary celebration, members have been invited to share stories of how this church has changed their lives.
“God has done so much in our short time of existence,” Wood said. “We have seen so many lives changed. We are part of something so much larger than ourselves here … Connie and I are just honored to be along for the ride.”
Freedom Church welcomes all and meets at 8, 9:30, and 11 a.m. every Sunday at Whitesville Elementary, 324 Gaillard Road in Moncks Corner.
