Mount Pleasant resident Brooke Mosteller won Miss South Carolina 2013 on Saturday, July 13.
Mosteller is very excited for her upcoming participation in the Miss America pageant Sept. 10 - 15 in Atlantic City, N.J. “The Miss America Pageant has moved home to Atlantic City and it is our belief that Brooke will be the 1st Miss America crowned in Atlantic City,” said Lesa Patton, the local executive director for the Miss Mount Pleasant/Miss Mount Pleasant Scholarship Pageant.
Mosteller’s platform is helping high school students apply and go to college, especially students with no one in their family who has ever been to a university.
Mosteller, 23, is a Furman University graduate and was attending the University of South Carolina Law School before her win. She also was a preliminary swimsuit winner.
The runner-up July 13 was Miss Greenville County, Lindley Mayer. Third place was Miss Spartanburg, Clarka Wickliffe, fourth place was Miss Hilton Head Island, Lauren Cabaniss, and fifth place was Miss Greater Greer, Lanie Hudson.
