Ralph Allen and Joyce Mauldin celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 25.
The anniversary was extra special this year because it followed Ralph’s liver transplant, which took place on March 13 in Richmond, Va. He said that he feels he has a new lease on life since the transplant, and he gives God all the glory.
Ralph gave Joyce her anniversary present a little early this year. On Sunday, June 16, he got on his knees and proposed to her all over again in the same little church where they met, and where they were married 43 years ago.
Once again, Joyce tearfully accepted Ralph’s unexpected proposal. It was a complete surprise and she was blissfully elated.
After the renewal of their wedding vows at Hopewell Baptist Church in Huger, a reception was held in the church social hall along with family and friends. There was even a wedding cake in honor of their renewed vows.
Ralph and Joyce said that they hope to live a long life and celebrate many more anniversaries together.
