SUMTER - Goose Creek Post 166 fell into the loser's bracket with a 7-4 loss to Inman in the American Legion state baseball tournament Saturday morning at Riley Park.
Post 166 (21-11) will face Murrells Inlet at 1 p.m. Sunday in an elimination game. It's a rematch of a playoff series that Murrells Inlet won 3-0, forcing Post 166 into last Sunday's play-in game against Beaufort.
Murrells Inlet lost to Irmo on Saturday.
Goose Creek led late against Inman but couldn't hold the lead. Tyler Rio's two-run single in the top of the seventh gave Post 166 a 4-3 lead but Inman (20-2) scored two runs apiece in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings to win.
Zack Lavery took the loss for Post 166, striking out 10 over seven innings. He gave up four earned runs and six hits.
Tyler Rio, Davon Higgins and Cody Smith all had two hits each for Goose Creek. Austin Timm and Lavery added RBIs.
Smith (5-2) is set to take the mound on Sunday for Post 166.
