Candy seminar set for July 31

  • Wednesday, July 17, 2013

A “Lunch and Learn” seminar will be held at Cypress Gardens at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
Learn how to grow nature's candy right here in the Lowcountry.
Just a few of the treats that you will learn about will be blackberries, strawberries, figs, citrus and more.
All aspects of the above fruit and even a few others will be covered. The event will touch on how to plant them, which cultivars will work the best, pest and disease problems, and much more.
The program will be presented by Darren Sheriff, a South Carolina certified professional nurseryman and a Charleston County Master Gardener. He is the founder and current president of the Lowcountry Fruit Growers Society.
Bring your lunch or a dish to share. The event is free to Master Gardeners; regular garden admission applies for others.
To sign up call (843) 553-0515 or email dwilliams@berkeleycountysc.gov. The class is limited to 30.
