Goose Creek 12U showcases firepower to win Ripken state

The Goose Creek 12U squad recently won the Cal Ripken state championship.

An all-star squad from Goose Creek captured the 12U Cal Ripken state baseball championship on Sunday in Gaffney with a 7-2 victory over Aiken behind home runs from Will McGuire, Travis Lott and Walker Howard.
It was the third straight state championship for the group. They won the 10U (2011) and 11U (2012) state championships in previous summers.
The team next travels to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. to participate in the Cal Ripken Southeast Regional July 25-28.
During the championship run this summer, Goose Creek rolled to six consecutive victories.  They have been productive at the plate, sporting a .426 team batting average while averaging over 14 runs a game. 
Leading the way offensively for Goose Creek is McGuire (.550 BA, 6 HR, 14 RBIs), Howard (.474, 3HR, 13 RBIs), Lott (.632, 2 HR, 8 RBIs), Justin Lifsey (.526, 3 HR, 11 RBIs), Josh Davis (.400, 2 HR, 10 RBIs), and Blake Marrs (.583, HR, 5 RBIs). 
Goose Creek's top performers on the mound include Dylan Stewart, Maison Shirley, Davis and R. Howard.  Other team members are Riggs Howard, Jackson Price, William Ramsey and Michael Zaleski. 
The team is coached by Brad Stewart, Jimmy Lifsey, Jon Davis and Jeff Price.
