Quarry meeting Thursday;changes announced
There will be a community meeting regarding the proposed Martin Marietta Mine Expansion on July 18 at the Quarry (564 Quarry Road in Jamestown).
The event will be hosted by Martin Marietta and the Berkeley County Planning Commission.
The times have changed to the following: on-site tours will be held from 5 - 6:30 p.m.; the meeting will take place from 6:30-7:15; and a final tour will be held at 7:15.
All events will be at the Quarry, and the public is invited.
Martin Marietta has applied for rezoning to “heavy industrial” of about 196 acres for “expansion of facility” at the Jamestown facility (Georgetown II Quarry) with the county.
This meeting is a result of a request made by the Berkeley County Planning Commission at its June 25 meeting. The commission will again take up the matter of the request for rezoning for the quarry property at its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 23 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Assembly Room.
A final decision for rezoning will be made by County Council. Call 719-4095 for more information.
